We at Oral Health Associates are proud to be your premier choice when you’re looking for a family dentist in or around Green Bay. When we say that we’re a great source of dentistry for the entire family, we really do mean it as we truly care about the health of the familial unit; after all, two of our expert family dentists are even related to each other! In essence, our practice is by a family and for families. We’d like to introduce you to one of them right now – Dr. Brian Koch!
Dentistry has been a part of Dr. Koch’s entire life. From observing his father Gary’s relationships with his patients to helping out around the office as a teenager to following in his footsteps as an adult, dentistry has been one of the major influences in his growth and development. His dad’s strong sense of right and wrong, his mother’s dedication to family, and his college basketball coach Dick Bennett’s passion for life were the driving forces behind his decision to pursue a career in dentistry.
A Green Bay native, he attended Premontre High School, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for undergraduate studies, and the University of Minnesota for Dental School. Feeling that he needed to gain greater medical experience, Dr. Koch entered the United States Air Force to complete a general practice residency. He then practiced with his father for five years before joining Oral Health Associates in 1995.
It was while working in the USAF that he became aware of the fear and anxiety that many people experience about undergoing dental treatment. One of the more gratifying rewards that Dr. Koch has found is in helping once-fearful patients actually look forward to their dental appointments. This can be accomplished by taking an empathetic approach using humor, active listening, and patience to develop relationships with his patients.
Volunteerism has played an important role in his life. Dr. Koch has been active in groups such as Optimists, Knights of Columbus, NWTC Restorative Clinic, and missionary dental work as well. He serves as an advisor to the NWTC Dental Assisting and Hygiene Programs and is active in Ashwaubenon athletics as a youth coach and Board member.
Dr. Koch and his wife Donna have been married for over 30 years. They are proud of their sons Adam, Jacob, and Bennett and their daughter Madeline. When not engaged in sporting activities, Dr. Koch finds time to hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.
